The LIFE programme is an EU initiative supporting projects related to environmental protection, combating climate change and sustainable development. It is one of the longest-running programmes in the European Union – it has been operating since 1992, supporting both innovative technologies and environmental education. LIFE finances projects throughout the EU, including Poland, enabling the implementation of activities contributing to the achievement of the goals of the European Green Deal.
The LIFE programme is available to both the public and private sectors, including non-governmental organisations and businesses, and focuses on:
protecting the natural environment and biodiversity,
promoting the circular economy and sustainable resource management,
combating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
supporting technological innovation in the field of the environment and climate,
adapting societies and economies to climate change.
